Vietnamese Hats

In Vietnam one can see all manner of hats being worn. Here we have the Vietnamese Pith Helmet or Sun Helmet used by North Vietnamese people and designed after World War II.
Based on the former colonial powers helmet, the French pith helmet, it is now said that its use has gone into sharp decline since the use of motorbike helmets became mandatory in 2007, nevertheless, one can still see it being worn in many places and it does have a certain character about it. And its decline does'nt seem to worry this seller in Lao Cai, north Vietnam.
