Flower H'mong (Hmong) tribal woman at Bac Ha market in Lao Cai Province, North Vietnam.
The Flower H'mong ethnic minority group are a very colourful tribe indeed. Their attire is mostly decorated with intricately woven and finely embroidered floral style designs hence the name Flower H'mong. The women as with many of the ethnic groups happen to wear the most colourful finery whereas the men often just dress in more simple toned down clothing.
In Vietnam the number of different ethnic groups amounts to an astonishing 54 of which the H'mong (Flower H'mong being a sub group) are the eighth largest ethnic group there making Vietnam one of the richest and most complex ethnically diverse countries in the whole of southeast Asia. |
