Thatbyinnyu pagoda, one of the most significant monuments and one of the tallest amongst the many pagodas scattered around the ancient city of Bagan (Pagan) in Myanmar (Burma).
Built by King Alaungsithu (1113-1163).
It is one of the earliest double-storeyed temples. Ornamented with parapets and a myriad of corner stupas the final tapering stupa takes the height of this magnificent buddhist work of art to 201 feet. |
