The Ananda Temple is located in Bagan, Myanmar (Burma). It is a Buddhist temple built in 1105 AD. Several terraces lead to the small pagoda at the top which is covered with an umbrella known as a 'hti'. Within the temple are housed four standing Buddhas with each one facing a cardinal direction of north,,south, east and west. It happens to be one of the most highly revered temples of Bagan and that is no small achievement as there are vast numbers of them big and small. |
