Papaver Somniferum Poppy

Vividly coloured Papaver somniferum, or Hens and Chickens Poppy or Opium Poppy. This red coloured Opium Poppy flower is used for ornamental purposes but the Opium poppy is the only species of Papaveraceae that is an agricultural crop grown on a large scale.
The seeds of which are an important food item and the source of poppyseed oil.
