Elaborate and ornate wood carvings make for some beautiful architectural attributes at Hokosha Shrine in Togakushi, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
Hokosha Shinto shrine is one of five important shrines in the Togakushi region of Joshinetsu National Park. Hokosha is known as the lower shrine and for artistic vallue regarding the wood carvings on the exterior is one of the best. Built around 1058 A.D.
There is a strenuous climb of 200 steps to reach this breathtaking ancient Shinto structure. |
