Chusha Shrine Cleansing Well

Traditional Japanese Water Fountain at Chusha Shrine in Togakushi, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
Togakushi is in Joshinetsu National Park a beautiful area full of nature, valleys and mountains, forests and wildlife. It is also well known for five sacred Shinto Shrines or Jinja as they are known in Japnaese of which Chusha in Chusha Village is one of them.
This image shows a typical cleansing or purifying well at the entrance where visitors wash there hands with the fresh mountain spring water and take a drink before entering the sacred shrines.
