Dorsal view of the Tortoise Shell butterfly (Aglais urticae) with it's beautiful wing pattern and colour. Often found in gardens feeding on Buddleja. If under threat this butterfly spreads its wings revealing a dramatic display of colour which can frighten young or inexperienced birds away.
