Macro shot of the Red Admiral Butterfly (Vanessa atalanta) enjoying the feast of nectar available within the tiny flowers of the aptly named Butterfly Bush (Buddleja davidii).
This is a ventral view (underside of the wings), which is quite different from the dorsal view that the Red Admiral is more familiar for with its striking dark brown, red and black wing pattern. The actual wingspan is between 45-50mm.
