The Peacock Butterfly (Inachis io) resting on conifer leaves in the United Kingdom. The Peacock gets its name from the large and colourful eyespots on their wings which resemble those on the tail of a peacock. It is not only found in Europe but also temperate Asia as far east as Japan. It has a wingspan of 50-55mm. Commonly found in woods, fields, meadows, pastures, parks and gardens.
