Macro shot of a Hoverfly (Simosyrphus grandicornis) feasting on the flowers of Buddleia or the butterfly bush. Hoverflies are also known as Flower Flies or Syrphid flies. As their common name suggests they are often seen hovering or nectaring on flowers. The adults feed mainly on nectar and pollen.
