Common Toad - Bufo bufo
One of the many species of Frogs and Toads found throughout Japan.
This one discovered in Togakushi, Nagano Prefecture is one of the many different species to be found in the area especially in the rainy season during summer. They are mainly active during wet weather and hunt during the night. They spend most of their lives on land but enter ponds and other still waters to lay their eggs normally in spring. Their diet consists of ants and small flies and other insects such as worms, spiders, slugs and larvae. |
