The Jama Masjid mosque in Old Delhi, India. The largest Mosque in India which was commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (of Taj Mahal fame) and was completed in 1656 AD. The actual minarets of the mosque are 130 feet high and the capacity of the place runs into many thousands of people. It is a glorious monument giving architectural credit to the Mughal Rulers of the time. |
